In Yekaterinburg, a widow of a railway worker is demanding 25 million from Russian Railways.
On January 7, 2025, in Yekaterinburg, a freight train ran over 29-year-old railway worker Alexey Bughamer. The man left behind three children, and a fourth was about to be born. It was only after Alexey's funeral that Anna, his wife, learned she was expecting another child.

According to the E1.RU portal, an investigation was conducted after the incident, during which the labor inspectorate found several serious violations and held the employer—JSC "RZD"—responsible. However, no criminal case was initiated as a result.
Alexey worked as a wagon inspection and repair technician. In the morning, as usual, all railway employees received a safety briefing. Afterwards, Alexey, along with a team of five inspectors, went on shift. It was only later that day that another worker saw the body of the railway worker—run over by the train.
The initial investigation was conducted jointly by the employer and a representative from the Sverdlovsk regional labor inspectorate. Despite identifying violations, RZD did not admit fault at that time, believing that Alexey had carelessly decided to cross the eleventh track of the railway under a freight car.
The widow insisted on a re-investigation by the State Labor Inspection in Sverdlovsk. They acknowledged that the initial investigation of the accident contained errors. According to inspectors, the incident occurred due to shortcomings in organizing worker training for safety.
No one saw how the tragedy occurred; there were no cameras at the scene. Alexey was supposed to rest that day, but he volunteered to work an extra shift. He left behind two sons, twins, who are now three and four years old.
Anna herself is an orphan, caring for a 15-year-old child. She lives in social housing with her children and is also expecting their fourth child.
RZD paid the family the compensation stipulated by the collective agreement due to the accident, issued Alexey's salary, and currently provides 10,000 rubles per child (for each under 18).
Now, Anna, together with a lawyer, is preparing a pre-trial claim against RZD to seek moral damages for her husband's death, amounting to a total of 25 million rubles.
