Doctors at Sverdlovsk Regional Clinical Hospital No. 1 saved a guy who collided with a curb on an electric scooter at a speed of over 30 kilometers per hour. The incident was complicated by the fact that the victim has been on hemodialysis for two years due to chronic renal failure. Due to the collision, the Yekaterinburg resident was thrown over the handlebars and hit his head. He was not wearing a helmet or other protective gear. The ambulance transported the victim to SOKB No. 1. The young man was diagnosed with a clavicle fracture and a craniocerebral injury, which led to the formation of an intracranial hematoma, according to EAN.
After surgery, it was possible to stop the dangerous bleeding.
— The surgery to remove the epidural hematoma is straightforward. In this case, we were dealing with a patient who is on hemodialysis. Such patients often exhibit increased tissue bleeding. Particular attention was paid to hemostasis to minimize blood loss and prevent complications, — said neurosurgeon Mikhail Usov from SOKB No. 1.
Thanks to the coordinated work of the operating team and anesthesiologist-resuscitator Julia Sumeiko, the operation was successful.
