— The parts of the glider will be produced and the fuselages assembled at the plant in Nizhny Novgorod. The final assembly will take place in Yekaterinburg, — the factory representative noted.
Currently, the assembly of the third flight prototype is ongoing in Nizhny Novgorod. In June, the fuselage of the third Baikal prototype was joined at the Nizhny Novgorod site, Ura.Ru reports.
The project to create the lightweight multipurpose aircraft LMS-901 Baikal has been implemented at UZGA since 2019 and is intended to replace the obsolete An-2. Serial production timelines have been repeatedly postponed, but regional authorities and the Ministry of Industry and Trade regularly inspect the factory and affirm the continuation of work.
Earlier, it was reported that by 2030, the production of 139 aircraft was planned. Last summer, RBC sources stated that in the first year of expected deliveries — 2025 — the aircraft would cost 455 million rubles.
