Yesterday at 17:40, a carpet of perennial flowers is being planted today on the embankment behind the Makarovsky Bridge in Yekaterinburg for the landscape culture festival "Atmofest," reports Uralweb correspondent from the scene.
As festival director Julia Sorokina explained to journalists, it is simply called the "carpet garden."
They are planting so-called sedum mats with an area of 60 square meters. When they bloom, they will form a living, perennial carpet.
It requires very little soil—just a layer of earth about 5 centimeters thick.
Thanks to this, such a garden can even be created on rocky surfaces.
It was announced yesterday that this year, the focus will be on flower gardens.
"Instead of landscape designers, florists will work along the Iseti embankment. They will bring more than 500 aquatic plants to clean the city pond’s water area, plant over 700 shrubs, and a hundred perennials," writes URA.RU.
Additionally, on the territory of "Atmofest" — behind the Makarovsky Bridge — sun loungers for sunbathing will appear.
There will also be a picnic area. You will be able to sit directly on the grass. Four restaurants will be located nearby.
The festival will take place from August 15 to 24.
