In August–September 2025 Russia faced an unprecedented crisis — a gasoline shortage. Supply disruptions have already appeared in more than 10 regions; in others prices are soaring.
According to Rosstat, the cost of gasoline at gas stations rose by 6.7% from the start of 2025 to September 1. The average price of gasoline stood at 57.98 rubles per liter.
In the Sverdlovsk Region by the end of August prices were lower than the national average. According to Sverdlovskstat, the price of AI-92 at gas stations was around 57 rubles per liter, which is five rubles higher compared with August 2024. The average price per liter of the popular AI-95 grade in August 2025 was 61.91 rubles (August 2024 — 56.41 rubles).
A member of the expert council of the State Duma’s Committee on Competition Protection, Dmitry Tortev, told the EAN outlet that prices will rise even more. But gas stations are unlikely to face fuel supply disruptions.
