A child from Kazakhstan is not being admitted to a Sverdlovsk school without taking the migrant exam.

In Verkhnyaya Pyshma, a girl who moved there with her parents from Kazakhstan was refused admission to a school because she had not taken a Russian language exam.

As URA.RU was told by the pupil’s mother, Lyudmila, their family is Russian, the daughter attended a Russian school and does not know any other language. The family moved to the town in July. At first the child was denied enrollment at the school tied to their registered address; later, through the education department, they managed to secure her a place at a school closer to home. The woman completed and submitted all the necessary documents, but this proved insufficient for admission — they demanded an exam.

“We’re Russian, my child studied at a Russian school and doesn’t know another language. But under the law we have been equated with migrants,” Lyudmila says.

The problem is that the test is administered only once a month. The girl will be able to take it only on September 20, and then they will have to wait for the results.

“So it turns out she will only be able to start school in the second term,” the mother worries.

According to her, the school so far refuses to introduce them to the teacher and homeroom teacher, leaving the child without any schooling. Now the girl’s mother tutors her after work.

Recall that since April 1 Russia has had a mandatory exam for migrant children when entering school. No more than 10% mistakes are allowed. A retake is possible only after three months.
