Customs officers in the Urals will destroy 4.5 million counterfeit bottle caps.

      Employees of the Ural Electronic Customs prevented the importation of 4.5 million counterfeit bottle caps at the declaration stage, the press service of the Ural Customs Directorate (UTU) reports.

      The caps were intended for the illegal production of non‑alcoholic beverages. The brand’s manufacturing plants on Russian territory are closed. The caps were being transported from the Middle East.

      "The goods bore signs of illegal use of the trademarks of well‑known carbonated beverage brands. The caps were sent for examination, which deemed them counterfeit," the UTU said.

      By court decision the declarant was held administratively liable under part 1 of Article 14.10 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation. The counterfeit products will be destroyed.
