A residential building in Sverdlovsk Oblast was kept awake for a week by a cat.
Residents of one of the high-rise buildings in Nizhny Tagil had been hearing plaintive meowing coming from the stairwell's ventilation shaft for a week. It turned out that a cat had become trapped, having somehow gotten inside and unable to get out.
"When it became clear that the animal needed urgent help, specialists arrived on the scene. After a thorough inspection they determined in which apartment a hole should be made to free the furry captive," the Nizhny Tagil City Population Protection Center reported.
Using specialized equipment, rescuers were able to carefully make a hole in the ventilation system and pull the cat to freedom. Fortunately, the operation ended successfully.
