Drivers in Russia can now lose their driver's licenses for another reason.

Russia may introduce a list of medications under the influence of which driving a car would be punishable by a fine and revocation of driving licenses. The list is expected to include drugs that reduce attention and reaction, such as sleeping pills and sedatives, RIA Novosti reports.

The head of the State Duma Committee on Health Protection, Sergey Leonov, said the bill has already been adopted in the first reading. It provides for administrative liability for driving under the influence of drugs that impair concentration and reaction speed.

Amendments may be made to Article 27.12.1 and the note to Article 12.8 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation. For a violation, a driver faces a fine of up to 45,000 rubles and revocation of their license for a period of one and a half to two years.

Leonov noted that it is not always convenient to check the entire list of medications. The LDPR proposes labeling such medicines with the inscription "contraindicated for driving" so that drivers immediately understand the risk.

To impose a fine, it will be necessary to identify clinical signs of impaired reaction and attention in the driver caused by medications not related to alcohol or other intoxicating substances.

Fine for driving without OSAGO. When will they start fining via cameras and how many times a day.

In Yekaterinburg more than 400 drivers will be fined for concealing license plates in a parking lot.
