Officials announced whether a "dry law" will be implemented in Sverdlovsk Oblast.

In the Middle Urals they do not plan to reduce the hours of alcohol sales. This was reported by Mikhail Kopytov, chairman of the Committee on Agrarian Policy of the Legislative Assembly of Sverdlovsk Oblast, on the "Accent" program on OTV.

Recall that the possibility of introducing restrictions was discussed back in late August. According to the deputy, shortening the hours of alcohol sales would only provoke growth in the shadow market.

“For now we are not going to introduce new restrictions. The experience of dry laws has shown — there is no effect. Even if you only allowed sales for a couple of hours, there would still be those who sell under the counter. The main thing is to explain to people that they can drink, but they should do so in a civilized way and know their limits. Bans alone won't solve the problem,” Kopytov said.

He also spoke out against banning moonshine stills, which are today available to everyone:

“It's impossible to monitor that, and the measure itself won't yield results. There has already been a dry law, and people still found ways to circumvent the bans.”

An interesting incident recently occurred in Saint Petersburg. There a deputy governor of Vologda Oblast was detained for a drunken brawl. Interestingly, a "dry law" was recently introduced in Vologda Oblast. They shut down all alcohol outlets there.
