The renovated section of the EKAD in Yekaterinburg has been reopened to traffic.

A temporary traffic scheme has come into operation on the reconstructed section of the EKAD located between Sibirsky Trakt and Vladimir Vysotsky Street. Motorists were directed onto lanes arranged as part of the ring’s large-scale widening.

“Between the 10th and the 24th kilometers, work on the construction of the roadway in the outbound direction has been completed. Road crews opened traffic from the 10th to the 12th kilometer on the new pavement,” the regional road administration of Sverdlovsk Oblast said.

At the same time, traffic between the 10th and 12th kilometers will remain two lanes for now. Simultaneously with the opening of the new lane, the old section of the EKAD has been closed for reconstruction. Work to widen it will begin there—starting with milling of the old pavement. Then the roadbed will be prepared, E1.RU reports.

In the final stage the base and surface layers of the road will be laid. It is expected that full six‑lane traffic with separation of opposing flows will open on the section in 2026.

Earlier it was reported that in Sverdlovsk Oblast the repair of a section of the Nizhnie Sergi–Mikhaylovsk–Arti highway had been completed. This is an important route connecting industrial Mikhaylovsk with Nizhnie Sergi and Yekaterinburg, and also forming part of a transit corridor leading from the region to Bashkortostan.
