In Yekaterinburg, an unknown person organized a scam involving plants intended for landscaping a residential complex. The perpetrator photographed trees and shrubs that had not yet been planted and posted listings on Avito offering a "discount." Buyers came to the site and took the plants, unaware that they were participating in a fraud, the affected landscape company URBAN GREEN reported. URA.RU writes.
"While our crew is planting the plants on one side of the yard, a young fraudster from the street sells them to private individuals. He photographs saplings that have not yet been planted and posts them on Avito as pick-up only," the company noted on Telegram.
The plants had been purchased by the developer to improve the residential grounds. The perpetrator took advantage of the fact that the saplings were stored in an open area for some time before planting. According to URBAN GREEN, the fraudster fled, but the police are already searching for him. The company asked residents to report the suspect's location if they recognize him.
Representatives of URBAN GREEN also emphasized that the scheme was made possible by features of the way the areas are arranged. While inner courtyards are usually fenced and guarded, the areas facing the street remain more accessible. The company urged residents to be vigilant and to stop private vehicles if they see plants being loaded from the residential complex's grounds.
