A financial crisis struck a major satellite city of Yekaterinburg.

      Sredneuralsk has become insolvent. Governor Denis Pasler instructed Mayor Alexey Stasenko to conclude an agreement with the Ministry of Finance on measures to restore its solvency. Ura.RU reports this, citing a regional government decree.

      "To the head of the Sredneuralsk municipal district, A. V. Stasenko, to conclude with the Ministry of Finance of the Sverdlovsk Region an agreement on measures to restore the solvency of the Sredneuralsk municipal district for a period of 5 years," the agency quotes the text of the document.

      The local Duma was instructed to approve a plan to restore solvency. The Sredneuralsk mayor’s office added that it is operating as usual.

      Meanwhile, the regional Ministry of Finance commented on the situation to the publication Signal Ural as follows:

      "Governor Denis Pasler, among other tasks, has set the task of maintaining the financial stability of all territories of the region. First and foremost, this concerns the quality of financial management and the handling of creditor indebtedness in municipalities. This is a working process for all municipal administrations in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance. For Sredneuralsk, by order of the governor, the municipality will develop a plan to restore financial stability and have it approved by the local Duma."

      Earlier it was reported that residents of Sverdlovsk Oblast have fallen behind on mortgage payments by more than 2 billion rubles since the beginning of the year.
