The director of the Yekaterinburg lyceum provoked a student revolt with his staffing policy.
The new director of Lyceum No. 173 in Yekaterinburg demoted deputy head Polina Zolovyeva to an ordinary teacher, which provoked a real rebellion among the students. All the students ignored the school uniform in protest.
Lyceum students and their parents are worried about Zolovyeva.
— Polina Viktorovna has worked at the lyceum for many years. She organized numerous events and ran a Telegram channel for students, where she informed them about the most important events in the lyceum’s life. Unexpectedly, on Friday, November 7, she received a notice of dismissal from her position as deputy head. She wrote about it in her Telegram channel, and the channel was soon deleted — apparently at the director’s insistence, — one of the students’ mothers complained to the EAN outlet.
Now the former deputy head has gone on sick leave amid great distress.
— The children have gathered to defend her. They declared a day without uniforms because Polina Viktorovna was responsible for enforcing the uniform. A collective visit to the director to clarify all the circumstances is planned, the Yekaterinburg resident added.
According to EAN, Ilya Smirnov became the director of Lyceum No. 173 in March. He previously headed School No. 22 in Uralmash, where he also clashed with teachers. More than a dozen teachers ultimately left that school.
