No one in Yekaterinburg was willing to set up newspaper kiosks.
In Yekaterinburg, seven auctions for the right to install kiosks selling printed publications ended without result — not a single applicant submitted a bid. This was reported by "Signal Ural."
In the autumn, the administrations of the Leninsky and Kirovsky districts announced auctions to conclude contracts for the placement of non-stationary retail outlets. A total of 10 spots were to be allocated, seven of them for selling printed publications.
However, the outcome was the same for all the auctions: not a single entrepreneur showed interest in participating.
Recall that this summer the city authorities were actively fighting against illegally installed non-stationary structures. Not only vegetable and fast-food stalls were subject to dismantling, but also kiosks of the "Rospechat," "Pressa" chains and other distributors. This situation caused dissatisfaction among city residents: many used these points primarily to buy postal items, stationery and other small goods. The mayor's office then assured that locations for newspaper kiosks would be preserved, but would be placed strictly in accordance with the approved rules.
