20 November 2025 The Presidium of the Regional Political Council of the Sverdlovsk regional branch of the United Russia party nominated Alexey Orlov for the post of head of the municipal formation "city of Yekaterinburg."
By law, the mayor of Yekaterinburg is elected by the City Duma upon the governor's proposal.
The decision has also been sent for approval to the Presidium of the party's General Council, after which the candidacy will be submitted to the selection committee.
Orlov's term expires in February 2026.
