Payment for rides on public transport could be made fully automatic — money would be deducted immediately after a passenger boards the vehicle. This option was proposed by the president of the association "Bus Lines of the Country," Boris Loran, at the "Cities of Russia" forum in Yekaterinburg, reports KP-Yekaterinburg.
According to him, the technology should work so that a person is considered to have paid for the trip at the moment they enter the vehicle. This, Loran noted, would effectively eliminate the very concept of a "fare‑dodger" and remove the need for ticket inspectors and fines.
Developers of digital solutions for the transport sector confirm that such systems are technically feasible, but their implementation is being hindered by restrictions in personal data legislation.
Recall that by the end of the year the authorities will decide whether city residents will keep the 9‑ruble fare discount.
