The number of poor people in Sverdlovsk Oblast has decreased.
In Sverdlovsk Oblast the share of residents with incomes below the poverty line is decreasing. By the end of 2024 about 6% of the population fell into this category, compared with 8.6% in 2021, reports EAN. According to Rosstat, 248,900 people had incomes below the threshold of 14,779 rubles.
At the same time, Russians’ perception of poverty is different: according to a SuperJob survey, people consider someone poor if they earn less than 48,000 rubles per month — more than three times higher than the official level.
Against this background, the Yekaterinburg authorities report an increase in the welfare of the city’s residents. Real incomes are rising along with wages: the real wage index for January–September 2025 was 104.4%. Growth was recorded in almost all sectors, and the average monthly nominal salary in large and medium-sized organizations exceeded 112,000 rubles, having increased by 15.5% year on year.
