The import of spices has been banned in Yekaterinburg.
At Koltsovo Airport, customs officers identified a passenger with a large batch of undeclared goods. A foreign citizen, who arrived from one of the former CIS countries, attempted to carry more than 8 kilograms of homemade spices in his luggage.
During the inspection, inspectors discovered 8.3 kilograms of the product. According to the passenger himself, the spices were intended for his son-in-law, who works as a chef in one of Chelyabinsk's cafes.
As explained by the head of the customs post, Sergey Borovik, the volume and assortment of the transported goods indicate their commercial purpose, which means they are subject to mandatory declaration.
An administrative case has been initiated against the man under the article on undeclared goods. The seized spices have been sent for examination to determine their value. The violator may face a fine ranging from half to double the value of the transported cargo.
