The teenager who stabbed a woman in the entrance of a building in Nizhny Tagil has had the charges intensified.

      In Nizhny Tagil, the charges against a teenager arrested in January of this year for attacking an unfamiliar woman with a knife in a stairwell, which resulted in the victim's death, have been intensified.

      The investigative department for the Tagilstroy district of Nizhny Tagil of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Sverdlovsk region has completed the investigation of the criminal case against the 15-year-old teenager. The resident of the Prigorodny district, born in 2010, has been charged under paragraph "i" of part 2 of article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (murder committed out of hooligan motives), the regional Investigative Committee reported the day before.

      According to the investigation, on January 6, 2026, the accused took a kitchen knife from his residence and went for a walk in the village of Gornouralsky. Near one of the houses in the village, he saw a woman born in 1978, whom he did not know before, and followed her into the entrance of the building.

      While on the landing in the entrance, the accused, without any actual reason, inflicted at least one blow to the woman's abdomen, after which he fled the scene. The victim was taken to the hospital, but died six days later from the penetrating stab wound to the abdomen.

      Initially, even after the victim's death, the teenager was only charged with attempted murder. He was placed under house arrest by the Prigorodny district court, from which he soon escaped.

      Investigations of the crime scenes and items, witness and accused interrogations, and examinations have been conducted in the criminal case.

      The young man did not admit guilt in committing the crime. He explained that on that day he was at home and at a club with friends, the Sverdlovsk region prosecutor's office reported.

      The criminal case with the approved indictment has been sent to the Prigorodny district court for substantive consideration.
