A workshop for the production of aircraft engines is planned to be built in Yekaterinburg.
The Ural Civil Aviation Plant is planning to build a new foundry workshop in Yekaterinburg. According to the information from the company's press service, the new facility will start producing parts for aircraft engines: from gas turbine to piston engines.
— The total area of the new workshop will be about 17 thousand square meters. The basis of the technological process will be an engineering and design cluster. The specialists' tasks will include not only classic tooling design but also deep digitalization of processes, the UZGA noted.
Engineers will model the production process using software, starting from the assembly of the model block and ending with the crystallization of the alloy. The workshop will be equipped to work with various alloys, including aluminum, alloyed steels, stainless steels, and in the future, titanium. The complex will specialize in vacuum casting of heat-resistant alloys for the production of blades with equiaxed, directional, and single-crystal structures. A Central Plant Laboratory will be created for quality control, which will accompany production from incoming material control to defect analysis. It was previously reported that low-floor trams are planned to be produced in Yekaterinburg in 2026.
