A young hockey player, who played for the club, killed a man to death in Pervouralsk.
The Pervouralsk City Court on Friday, April 3, placed 24-year-old hockey player Mikhail Grinko in custody for two months after he fatally beat a 43-year-old man in a street altercation, reports "KP-Ekaterinburg."
The tragedy occurred between 11 PM and 12:30 AM on March 31. Forty-three-year-old Nail Nafikov made a remark to a young man who entered a trading pavilion with his dog. A conflict arose between the men.
— "Dad went outside, but the guy caught up with him, beat him, and kicked him to death," said the son of the deceased to "KP-Ekaterinburg."
Dental technician Nail Nafikov died from a traumatic brain injury — the attacker struck him multiple times with his hands and feet to the head and body, the Sverdlovsk region prosecutor's office reported. He is survived by a wife and son.
A local resident born in 2001, Mikhail Grinko, was detained on suspicion of the crime "in hot pursuit." He previously played professional hockey for one of the clubs in Udmurtia. After returning to Pervouralsk, he worked at a factory and had side jobs, the publication writes.
Court documents indicate that Grinko is unemployed. At the time of the crime, he was in a state of intoxication. Friends and acquaintances cannot believe that Mikhail could have committed such an act. They describe him as a kind and calm person.
The Pervouralsk City Court, at the request of the investigation, sent Grinko to a pre-trial detention center until June 1.
