Brought the belongings of Catherine. The Director of the State Hermitage Museum, Mikhail Piotrovsky, arrived in Yekaterinburg on April 3, 2026. On Wednesday, April 1, the General Director of the State Hermitage Museum, Mikhail Piotrovsky, visited Yekaterinburg. His visit to the Sverdlovsk region took place on the occasion of two significant events in the cultural sphere of the region.
The cultural center "Hermitage-Ural" is celebrating its 5th anniversary, and the Yekaterinburg Museum of Fine Arts has turned 90 years old, reports the Department of Information Policy of the Sverdlovsk region. To mark the anniversaries, two exhibition projects dedicated to Catherine the Great and the Ural of the Catherine era are presented at the cultural institutions.
Mikhail Piotrovsky thanked Denis Pasler for his assistance in the development of the cultural centers of the State Hermitage Museum.
“Denis Vladimirovich, thank you very much for the development of the Hermitage in Russia, because thanks to you we have the Hermitage in Orenburg, and today we are at the Hermitage in Yekaterinburg. Thank you very much,” said Mikhail Piotrovsky.
The exhibition projects presented at the "Hermitage-Ural" center and the Yekaterinburg Museum of Fine Arts include more than 200 items from the collection of the State Hermitage Museum, including memorial items of Catherine II.
Visitors can see products from the Troitsky factory of A.F. Turchaninov, such as a painted samovar and a writing set, as well as items from the Yekaterinburg cutting factory. Some of the works have been restored for the exhibition and are being displayed for the first time.
Let us remind you that the cultural center "Hermitage-Ural" was opened on July 1, 2021. The choice of date is related to the beginning of the evacuation of exhibits from the State Hermitage Museum from Leningrad to Sverdlovsk in 1941. In the building of the Sverdlovsk Art Gallery, where "Hermitage-Ural" is now located, more than 1.1 million exhibits and documents were stored from 1941 to 1945. Today, the cultural center is a museum with modern infrastructure, embodying the historical memory of the feat of the workers on the home front.
