A gynecologist from the "New Hospital" and a colleague saved a child on a plane for almost 5 hours (PHOTO)

      The gynecologist from Yekaterinburg's "New Hospital," Tatyana Noritsina, along with a colleague-anesthesiologist from Tyumen, provided assistance to an 8-year-old boy who suddenly felt unwell on board a plane flying from Thailand. This was reported on Tuesday by the press service of the Ministry of Health of the Sverdlovsk region.

      The vacation nearly ended tragically for the 8-year-old boy from Sverdlovsk, who was making a night flight home with his mother and aunt. On board the flight from Phuket to Koltsovo, the child suddenly developed a fever, began vomiting, had diarrhea, and experienced abdominal pain. The aircraft crew asked the passengers if there were any medical professionals on board.

      A resuscitator from Tyumen and gynecologist Tatyana Noritsina from the "New Hospital" volunteered to help the child. She had previously worked for 8 years in an ambulance team and is a pediatrician by her first medical specialization.

      A "hospital bed" was set up at the emergency exit.

      To stabilize the child's condition, the medical professionals inserted an intravenous catheter and administered saline solution and other medications found in the medical kit on board through a drip. The procedures lasted for 4.5 hours. The turbulence could have interfered with the proper administration of the medications, but everything went well.

      At the time of landing, the boy was laid down on a row of three seats occupied by his family. Immediately after landing, ambulance staff boarded the plane, and the colleagues who stabilized the child reported to them about the patient's condition and the actions taken.

      The child was taken to the infectious diseases department of Children's City Hospital No. 15 in Yekaterinburg in serious condition. The hospital continued the therapy, and by morning the boy felt better. He is now at home and feeling well.
