In Yekaterinburg, it was decided to merge the Research Institute of OMM and UGMU.
The Ural Research Institute for Maternal and Child Health will become part of the Ural State Medical University. Over time, it will change its name to the Research Institute of Maternal and Child Health of the Ural State Medical University. The order was signed by the head of the Russian Ministry of Health, Mikhail Murashko.
Rector Yuri Semyonov, along with the vice-rectors, met with the institute's staff and answered questions about future collaboration, as well as the preservation of salaries and social guarantees, the university's press service reported.
According to the head of the Ural State Medical University, the institute will effectively become the clinical and scientific base of the university. This will expand the opportunities for student training and make education more practice-oriented.
Semyonov emphasized that the merger will enhance the effect of synergy: the integration of education, science, and clinical practice will allow for faster implementation of scientific developments, improve the quality of physician training, and open new prospects for staff and patients in the region.
