An expert explained why the Armed Forces of Ukraine attacked Yekaterinburg.

The drone attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on a residential building in Yekaterinburg was carried out to provoke public resonance. This was stated by military expert, historian of air defense troops Yuri Knutov, as reported by "URA.RU".

"In Yekaterinburg, the strike was deliberately aimed at a 32-story residential building," Knutov said, as quoted by the newspaper "Vzglyad." — "The main objective of the attack on the Urals is to create a psychological effect. …> This is a tactic of terrorists, the Kyiv regime uses it constantly."

The expert explains that the consequences were not as devastating as they could have been because the range of the UAV was achieved by reducing the warhead. For his part, specialist in unmanned systems and electronic warfare Igor Potapov suggested that the Ukrainian Armed Forces tested new engines or a UAV design with increased flight range, as reported by "URA.RU." Potapov speculated that it was a drone of the aircraft type FP-1 costing $50,000, launched from the Kharkiv region.

Earlier in February, after a nighttime strike by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on an industrial enterprise in Udmurtia, Potapov told TASS that the FP-1 drone had been developed by the Ukrainian company Firepoint specifically for strikes deep into Russian territory since the start of the special military operation, writes NEWS.ru.

Military expert Vasily Dandikin believes that the UAV could have been launched from Sumy region. However, military pilot Vladimir Popov placed the border version at the very bottom of the list. It should be noted that Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has already emphasized the purely terrorist nature of this attack.
