      At the meeting of the Academic Council of the Ural Federal University, the regulations on disciplinary penalties for students will be reviewed today. The draft document states that punishment may follow for violations of the university's charter, internal regulations, discipline in classes, behavior norms at the university, rules for living in dormitories, and other local acts related to the educational process.       Disciplinary measures have been applied before — for example, students could be expelled for systematic absenteeism. However, the university will now officially establish the procedures and types of punishments. Three measures are provided: a warning, a reprimand, and expulsion for a disciplinary offense.

      A reprimand, for example, can be issued for smoking in prohibited areas or disrupting classes. At the same time, the decision on punishment must be based on confirmed documents — acts from authorized bodies, memos, and other materials. The student trade union also reviews the case and can support the student.

      The final decision is signed by the rector. If there are no new violations within a year, the penalty is automatically lifted.
