The Sverdlovsk police appointed a psychiatric examination for the driver of the Lexus involved in the fatal accident.

      The special unit for investigating high-profile traffic accidents of the Main Investigative Department (GSU) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Sverdlovsk region continues a detailed investigation into the fatal accident in the Ordzhonikidzevsky district of Yekaterinburg. The accident occurred on April 11, when a drunken driver in a Lexus collided with a BMW. As a result of injuries incompatible with life, a woman died, and her child suffered serious harm to health.

      Press secretary of the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs Valery Gorelykh reported that during this period, representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs identified and interviewed 13 witnesses, conducted two forensic medical examinations, and a comprehensive video technical examination.

      — In the detention center, the accused demonstrates himself as a suffering person. He is genuinely crying and claims that he does not remember how everything happened. Initially, he abused alcohol for a long time allegedly due to depression, then there was a memory lapse. A psychiatric examination has been appointed for the unfortunate racer by the police investigation. The examination has proven that the driver of the Lexus grossly violated traffic rules by entering the oncoming lane, where he collided with the car of the deceased woman. It has been proven that the female driver technically could not avoid the accident. The investigation is under special control by the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Sverdlovsk region, noted Colonel Gorelykh.

      Let us remind you that according to the investigation's version, on April 11 at about 18:30, Garenysh, being under the influence of alcohol at the wheel of a Lexus LX570 and moving along Cosmonauts Avenue from Shefskaya Street towards Architect Bezrukov Street, did not maintain constant control over the vehicle's movement and chose an unsafe distance. As a result of the accident provoked by the Lexus driver, a 30-year-old female driver of the BMW died in the hospital from her injuries. In the car with her in the back seat was a young child, who is currently in the hospital in serious condition.
