A sentence has been handed down to the friends-terrorists who escaped from the SIZO-1 in Yekaterinburg.
The Verkh-Isetsky District Court of Yekaterinburg on Wednesday, May 6, sentenced Ivan Koryukov* and Alexander Cherepanov* (*included in the list of terrorists and extremists by Rosfinmonitoring) who escaped from the pre-trial detention center.
In October 2024, Ivan Koryukov* and Alexander Cherepanov* were convicted by the Central Military Court under part 1 of article 30, paragraph "a" of part 2 of article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Preparation for a terrorist act"). The court sentenced both to a strict regime colony with subsequent restriction of freedom.
However, while in detention center No. 1, the convicts escaped on September 1, 2025.
The fugitives hid in the territory of one of the gardening associations near Yekaterinburg. They broke into one of the houses and stole property worth more than 7 thousand rubles. A week later, one of the convicts was detained, and another was found a week after that.
As reported by Uralweb.ru, the head of the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Sverdlovsk region, Valery Gorelykh, the criminal case regarding the escape from the detention center was investigated by investigators from the Yekaterinburg police.
"In the search for the fugitives, 270 police officers were involved," Colonel Gorelykh reported. "One of the suspects assisted representatives of the internal affairs bodies and the Federal Penitentiary Service. He recorded his audio message to his accomplice, which was constantly broadcast through the loudspeakers of service vehicles of the patrol service while patrolling the garden plots in the area of the Chusovoy tract."
The court found Koryukov* and Cherepanov* guilty under part 2 of article 313 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Escape from custody committed by a person in pre-trial detention, by a group of persons by prior agreement"), paragraph "a" of part 3 of article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Theft by a group of persons by prior agreement with illegal entry into a dwelling").
Taking into account the punishment for the previous conviction, Cherepanov* was finally sentenced to 8 years of imprisonment, Koryukov* to 7.5 years. The first 4 years the convicts will spend in prison, the remainder of the term in a strict regime correctional colony. Both will have their freedom restricted for 1 year after serving their sentence.
The sentence has not yet entered into legal force; the parties have the right to appeal it within 15 days.
