In Yekaterinburg, a 19-year-old janitor explained to the court why he hit his partner's 12-year-old son.
In Yekaterinburg, the Railway District Court has chosen a preventive measure for 19-year-old Alim Mamatov from Kazakhstan, who injured the minor son of his cohabitant, reports "KP-Yekaterinburg."
Recall that the incident occurred on May 4 in the apartment where the boy's mother, Alsu, and her new young partner, a citizen of Kazakhstan, lived. After the parents' divorce, sixth-grader Maxim, as can be understood from his father's words, lived with him and visited his mother.
On that day, Maxim called his father Alexander via video call, and he saw that the child was covered in blood. Later, doctors diagnosed the injured minor with a broken nose, a traumatic brain injury, and bruises.
As Alexander previously recounted, the boy witnessed a quarrel between Alsu and Alim. Hearing the screams, his son defended his mother and told Alim, "You're not a man if you behave like that." After which, the cohabitant began to beat the child, Alexander reported.
In court, 19-year-old janitor Alim did not deny inflicting injuries on Maxim but stated that he was scared for Alsu, as the boy allegedly grabbed a knife.
According to the man's version, he had to hit Maxim to prevent him from harming his own mother, who, as it turned out in court, is pregnant.
Maxim's mother and Alim plan to get married. In court regarding the preventive measure, Alsu, who is testifying as a witness, characterized her beloved as a good person who was very upset about what happened and asked for forgiveness from her and Maxim for the incident.
— It shouldn't have been done. I regret it and will bear the punishment, — quotes "KP-Yekaterinburg" the words of the accused.
A criminal case against him has been initiated under Article 119 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Threat of Murder) and Article 117 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Torture").
According to the investigation, the man systematically beat his cohabitant's 12-year-old son from January to May 2026 and also made threats of murder against his father.
In court, it became known that Alim tried to escape from police officers in a car but drove into a courtyard where he was detained. He claims that he did not know who was chasing him, which is why he ran away.
The court, having considered the investigator's petition, sent the accused to pre-trial detention until July 12.
