The sentence regarding the former lecturer of one of the educational institutions in Yekaterinburg was handed down on Tuesday, June 9, by the Kirov District Court, as reported by the Sverdlovsk Region Prosecutor's Office. The defendant was Associate Professor Evgenia Vyguzova.
As an associate professor of the department, Vyguzova received monetary funds totaling over 115 thousand rubles from fifth-year students in the fall of 2024 for committing illegal actions—writing and subsequently facilitating the unhindered defense of course works.
The woman was found guilty under Part 3 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (receiving a bribe by an official for illegal actions or inaction). The defendant partially admitted her guilt in the incriminated crime.
The Kirov District Court of Yekaterinburg sentenced Evgenia Vyguzova to 4 years in a general regime colony, with a prohibition on engaging in teaching activities for 4 years, and a fine of one million rubles. The bribe amounting to 115.5 thousand rubles was recovered by the court in favor of the state at the initiative of the state prosecutor.
The sentence has not yet entered into legal force.
