It turned out why the mayor of Sysert, Niskovskikh, did not lead his group to the elections.
It became clear why the mayor of Sysert, Dmitry Niskovskikh, did not lead his group to the elections.
On June 23, 2026, the head of Sysert, Dmitry Niskovskikh, did not make it to the list of candidates nominated by the party for the elections to the Legislative Assembly of the Sverdlovsk Region from the Sysert territorial group, following the results of the 45th conference of the Sverdlovsk regional branch of "United Russia." The reasons for this are discussed in his publication by "Ъ-Ural."
Niskovskikh became the only one of the eight Sverdlovsk mayors in the "United Russia" primaries who changed his mind about running for the Legislative Assembly elections, reports "Ъ-Ural." Other territorial groups on the party list were headed by mayors Alexey Orlov (Yekaterinburg), Vyacheslav Tyumentsev (Novouralsk), and Natalia Tikhonova (Asbest). The second places were taken by Nikolai Yudin (Irbit) and Andrey Yaroslavtsev (Kachkanar), the third by Oleg Makaryan (Kamyslovsky District), and the fourth by Denis Tolmachev (Alapaevsk).
As previously reported by "Ъ-Ural," the Sysert territorial group of candidates from "ER" included State Duma deputy Lev Kovpak, chairman of the Sysert Duma Ilya Tugbaev, and chief physician of the Aramil City Hospital Yegor Kolobov.
As Dmitry Niskovskikh explained his decision not to run, he wanted to avoid a situation where either he or many members of the election commission would have to step away from their duties for an extended period, as these individuals are mostly municipal or state employees and report to the candidate-mayor.
However, the election commission clarified that they would have no problem finding reserves in the election commission to replace Niskovskikh's subordinates with independent members. Thus, there were no obstacles for the head of Sysert to participate in the elections.
According to a source from "Ъ-Ural" in the Sverdlovsk region government, the mayor of Sysert did not go to the elections to avoid hindering Lev Kovpak's election to the Legislative Assembly (and later moving to the State Duma). Since Niskovskikh himself is not claiming a mandate in the State Duma, and is considered a "rating figure," this decision was made, the publication's interlocutor explained.
