A Yekaterinburg resident driving a "Land Cruiser" died in a collision with a truck.
A resident of Yekaterinburg died in a car accident that occurred today, June 28, on the 78th kilometer of the federal highway "Yekaterinburg-Tyumen."
According to preliminary findings, a 71-year-old driver of a Toyota Land Cruiser, traveling along the specified section of the road from the direction of Yekaterinburg in a construction zone, for an unknown reason crossed into the oncoming lane, where he collided with a Scania truck traveling in the opposite direction.
The cargo vehicle, consisting of a semi-trailer, was empty and heading to Yekaterinburg for loading.
As a result of the accident, the driver of the Land Cruiser, a resident of Yekaterinburg, died. The truck driver, a 59-year-old man, was not injured.
As explained to the traffic inspectors by the driver of the Scania, he noticed an oncoming vehicle that was swerving from side to side. When the vehicles were side by side, the SUV moved into his lane, and a collision could not be avoided.
An investigation is underway regarding the accident.
