      The Yekaterinburg Metro ranked fourth among Russian cities in passenger traffic for 2025. Only Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Novosibirsk surpassed the Ural capital in this indicator, reports the EAN agency. Last year, the Yekaterinburg Metro transported 47.8 million people. Daily, 130,000 residents and guests of Yekaterinburg use the subway. In comparison, the Novosibirsk Metro transported 81.6 million people in a year. There, the daily passenger flow is 223,000 people.

      Novosibirsk has two metro lines and 14 stations, while the Ural capital has one line with 9 stations, writes EAN.

      In order to gain support from the federal center for further metro construction in the city, a passenger flow increase to 140-150 thousand people is needed, explained Yekaterinburg's head Alexey Orlov earlier.
