Yekaterinburg residents were suddenly urged to refrain from swimming.
In the Sverdlovsk region, residents have been urged to refrain from swimming in rivers and ponds after prolonged rains and a sharp rise in water levels. This decision was made at an extraordinary meeting of the commission for juvenile affairs, instructing municipalities to strengthen control over water bodies.
As noted by the Deputy Governor - Minister of Health of the region, Tatyana Savinova, the flood has altered the riverbed, intensified the current, and brought in logs, debris, and other dangerous objects into the water, making even familiar swimming spots potentially hazardous.
According to authorities, there have been several tragic incidents involving minors in the water in the Sverdlovsk region just in the past week. In this regard, rescuers and police officers are intensifying preventive patrols and reminding parents that leaving children unsupervised near water bodies is dangerous and may lead to administrative or criminal liability.
