In Kamensk-Uralsky, five paddleboards capsized during a rafting trip on the Iset River. The incident occurred on July 22 near the village of Malaya Kodinka, where an unregistered group of tourists was navigating one of the most challenging sections of the river.
According to Pavel Vishnyaukas, the head of the Kamensk-Uralsky search and rescue team, the tourists were unable to handle the steep descents, which resembled small waterfalls.
— "There are many steep descents in this area. The tourists fell from them and capsized," he told "KP-Ekaterinburg."
As reported by the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations for the Sverdlovsk region, one of the capsized paddleboards had a family with two children aged 9 and 13. Everyone except the father was wearing life jackets.
According to Pavel Vishnyaukas, the current swept away all the participants of the rafting trip. The woman and children were able to reach the shore thanks to their life jackets, where they were assisted by bystanders. The head of the family is missing. The search and rescue team continues to survey the river by boat.
