Deputy Wegner, who reported on the beating of a scholar in Yekaterinburg, has begun to receive threats from unknown individuals.

      Deputy of the Sverdlovsk Legislative Assembly Vyacheslav Wegner, who brought to light the shocking attack on prominent Ural scientist Nikolai Zezin, shortly after which his death followed, has begun receiving threats from unknown individuals.

      "I received a call this morning and they started threatening me: who do you think you are, what are you doing there, you'll answer for your words. Well, fine, I'm used to it," Vyacheslav Wegner commented on the situation to "Channel 4."

      The day before, the deputy shared on his social media that the heart attack that led to the death of the director of the Ural Agricultural Research Center of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Nikita Nikolayevich Zezin, occurred after an attack on the scientist by someone from a group of minors who were destroying crops in the institute's experimental fields with their ATVs. Nikita Nikolayevich himself called one of the fathers to return the children whose stuck ATVs were left in the field.

      Four SUVs approached the institute. "Two people got out of one, one introduced himself as Arkasha. They started shouting that we had kidnapped the children, spitting in our faces, and then they hit Nikita Nikolayevich in the head — several blows, kicks to the shins," Wegner told "Channel 4."

      Nikita Nikolayevich documented the injuries at the hospital. His deputy, combat veteran Alexander Shanin, who was with the chief, was also injured by the attackers.

      The attack happened about two weeks ago, on July 13. And on July 22, the scientist died of a heart attack.

      Deputy Wegner is convinced that there is a direct connection between these tragic events — the beating and the heart attack. He has already appealed to the Investigative Committee of Russia with a request to conduct an investigation.

      "The investigation has identified all participants in the beating, but no one has been taken into custody," reports "Channel 4."
