A man was arrested in Yekaterinburg for forcing the owner to transfer the rented apartment to his name.

      The Sverdlovsk Regional Court ruled to take into custody the accused of illegal deprivation of liberty and extortion of property.

      According to the preliminary investigation, a native of the Russian Federation, resident of Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug - Yugra, Eldar Alimsultanov is accused under paragraphs "a", "b" of part 2 of article 127 (Illegal deprivation of liberty by a group of individuals by prior agreement, using violence dangerous to life or health), as well as under paragraph "b" of part 3 of article 163 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Extortion committed for the purpose of obtaining property on a particularly large scale), reports the unified press service of the courts of the Sverdlovsk region.

      According to the investigation, Alimsultanov, together with an accomplice, illegally detained the owner of a rented apartment and demanded to transfer the property. The criminals were unable to carry out their intent to the end.

      The Academic District Court of Yekaterinburg chose a preventive measure for the accused in the form of a prohibition of certain actions. The ruling was appealed in a higher instance.

      The Sverdlovsk Regional Court examined the submitted materials, heard the arguments of the parties, and disagreed with the conclusions of the first instance court.

      As a result of the appellate review, the judicial act was canceled, and a preventive measure in the form of detention was chosen for Eldar Alimsultanov until September 20, 2026. He was taken into custody in the courtroom.
