They don't need a break: A nail stylist shared how often you can get a manicure.
Nail stylist for fashion shows, winner and judge of international nail service championships Irina Miller dispelled the main myth about manicures using gel polish—that nails need to "rest" from the coating. This is reported by "KP-Ekaterinburg."
As Irina Miller stated in an interview with Vse42.ru, the optimal frequency for manicures is once every 2-4 weeks. It all depends on the speed of nail growth and the type of coating.
Regular manicures do not harm the nail plate if the technician applies and removes the material correctly, without over-filing the natural nail. A recovery and care period is required if the nails are damaged, thinned, or peeling.
— "Resting" from the coating is not necessary for healthy nails. Nails do not breathe, so the absence of a coating does not saturate them with oxygen by itself, the specialist explained.
Earlier, doctors reminded that the UV lamp used by technicians to cure gel polish emits low doses of ultraviolet radiation, but they can still harm unprotected skin. Additionally, constant coating may hinder timely detection of a dangerous process.
