The court protected homeless cats in the conflict with the management company in Sukhoi Log.
The Sukholozhsky City Court issued a ruling on the dispute between LLC UK "Sukholozhskaya" and a local volunteer, who was accused by the utility workers of organizing an illegal shelter for cats in the basement of a residential building on Pushkinskaya. This was reported by the unified press service of the Sverdlovsk courts.
The utility workers demanded to stop keeping stray animals in the technical basement, citing that it interfered with the maintenance of engineering networks. In court, it was revealed that the basement is used by volunteers not as a stationary shelter, but as a temporary collection point for aid and a venue for educational events—"Lessons of Kindness" and "Open Door Days." The cats themselves live in private foster homes, and they are only brought to the basement during charitable and educational events.
The defendant provided a rental agreement with the apartment owners, who held a general meeting and unanimously voted in favor of having animals in the basement. Residents confirmed in court that with the arrival of the volunteer, the condition of the premises improved: the engineering communications were serviced more promptly, the sanitary conditions became cleaner, and there were no odors or noise coming from the basement.
The court indicated that the decision of the homeowners aligns with the principles of humane treatment of animals, as enshrined in Federal Law No. 498-FZ, and that Yevdokimov's activities do not fall under the definition of an animal shelter. Therefore, there were no grounds to satisfy the claim of the management company. LLC UK "Sukholozhskaya" was denied the request to clear the basement of stray cats.
Earlier, it was reported that a blood donor is being sought in Yekaterinburg for a cat with kidney problems.
