The partner of the Goethe Institute in Yekaterinburg will continue to conduct German language exams.
The German Language Center in Yekaterinburg, a partner of the Goethe Institute, will continue to hold scheduled exams. This was reported to TASS by representatives of the organization.
"Exams that are currently announced are being conducted. There is no information about cancellations yet. The exam schedule is set a year in advance; it was compiled at the beginning of 2026, and for now, we are sticking to it," said the TASS interlocutor.
Regarding Russia's closure of the Goethe Institute in Russia, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated this after Germany denounced the agreement on the activities of the Russian House in Berlin on September 1 and announced the closure of the Russian consulate in Bonn due to the incident involving an allegedly Russian UAV at Leipzig airport in early August.
German Foreign Ministry representative Martin Giese stated that the German government would not respond to Russia's decision regarding the Goethe Institute.
President of the Goethe Institute Gesche Joost declared the "end of an era of German-Russian cultural ties." Olaf Zimmermann, executive director of the German Cultural Council, also expressed regret.
German authorities have come to believe that they are allowed any actions, while Russia is only permitted those that Berlin allows, said TASS special envoy of the Russian Foreign Ministry Rodion Miroshnik.
"And when things do not go that way, they bitterly regret it, and yes, of course, they blame everything on Russia," said the diplomat.
Mikhail Shvydkoy, special representative of the President of the Russian Federation for international cultural cooperation, called the recent actions of the government of Friedrich Merz a "colossal strategic mistake of Germany" in a conversation with TASS.
"The German leadership does not realize what it is doing: we are entering a very difficult, tense period of relations, which is actually not needed by either the Russian or the German people," Shvydkoy said.
In Russia, attention is drawn to the fact that the public has not yet been shown either the drone itself or footage of its flight. Journalists in Russia have already compared this incident to the arson of the Reichstag, in which the elected Chancellor Adolf Hitler accused the communists in 1933 to eliminate political competitors of the NSDAP and usurp power in the country.
