The Yekaterinburg "Gotrans" reported the number of drivers who returned after their salaries increased.
In Yekaterinburg's Gortrans, the number of drivers who returned after salary increases has been announced
yesterday at 16:15. Since the beginning of the year, EMUP Gortrans has hired 100 people, but the enterprise still needs about 160 drivers. Vice-mayor of Yekaterinburg Rustam Galyamov revealed this on Tuesday.
It is noteworthy that many of those recently hired by Gortrans are former employees. They left the company due to low wages and have now returned. Of the new drivers, 55 are bus drivers, 10 are tram and trolleybus drivers, and 35 are track workers, locksmiths, and other specialists.
“The difference in the number of bus and tram drivers versus trolleybus drivers is significant because the training cycle for the latter is longer. To operate electric transport, one must learn theory and practice over 5-6 months. During this time, students receive a scholarship and accommodation. That’s why many candidates for tram and trolleybus operator positions are still undergoing training and have not yet been officially employed,” explained the city administration’s press service.
To drive a bus, a “D” category driver’s license is sufficient. Those applying for bus driving positions at Gortrans typically already possess this license.
The outflow of specialists has been halted and even reversed thanks to significantly improved working conditions. The average net salary for drivers today exceeds 100,000 rubles across different types of transport:
130,000 rubles (buses),
almost 109,000 rubles (trams),
102,000 rubles (trolleybuses).
Nevertheless, the staffing needs remain. Gortrans still requires 80 tram drivers, 30-35 trolleybus drivers, and about 50 bus drivers. All vacancy information is available on the company’s website.
