Yekaterinburg residents share their thoughts on the rising utility costs
Today at 17:06 in Sverdlovsk region, the tariffs for housing and communal services from July 1, 2025, will increase by an average of 13.2%. Now, on average, Sverdlovsk residents will pay about 1,000 rubles more per month during winter (and also in autumn and spring), for example, for a typical two-room apartment. Payments in summer will be slightly lower. There are many reasons for this. The main ones cited by authorities are inflation, the high key interest rate of the Central Bank, rising energy prices, low wages of housing and communal service workers, and outdated infrastructure.
But naturally, the citizens are very dissatisfied with what is happening. Honestly, utilities have always cost quite a lot, and now these numbers will increase significantly.
— Pensioners are especially unhappy about this because their pensions are only increased by about a thousand, and then prices go up again. They just got a raise, and immediately the prices for utilities and in stores increased.
— My utility bill takes up 30% of my pension, sometimes more. Afterwards, I just have to go around with an outstretched hand, — says Nina Vasilevna.
— I pay 11,500 rubles in winter for a three-room apartment, and in summer it’s half that, — cites the words of the city dwellers from E1.RU.
