
A woman from Yekaterinburg almost lost her money after trying to save on communication.
A resident of Yekaterinburg attempted to save on phone communication and almost lost her money today at 10:23 a.m. scammers tried to deceive her by pretending to be a mobile operator.
A Yekaterinburg resident told the E1.RU portal that scammers called her mother on behalf of a service provider via Telegram. The con artists offered to switch to a more advantageous plan.
"They suggested calling back on WhatsApp, started a video call and screen sharing. At some point, she had to enter a password, which her mother didn't share, but thanks to the screen sharing, the scammer saw it," E1.RU quotes the Urals resident.
The woman was saved from losing her money because her daughter overheard the call. She checked the phone and saw a regular subscriber number instead of a service number, the screen sharing, and incoming SMS, then simply hung up.
