A rotation took place at the Rubens exhibition in the "Hermitage-Ural."
Yesterday at 15:05, a rotation of graphics and embroidery works occurred as part of the exhibition "The Golden Age of Flemish Art. Cabinets of Curiosities of the Peter Paul Rubens Era," announced the Hermitage-Ural Center.
The change of exhibits is related to the fact that graphics and textiles are quite sensitive and require special conditions for display. Prolonged exposure to even subdued, delicate lighting can harm them. That is why the collection needs to be updated every 3-4 months.
Eight sheets of graphics were replaced with other works, including paintings by Peter Paul Rubens such as "Saint Roch, Protector of the Leprous," "African Fisherman ('Seneca')," "Rubens' Vase," and others. A "Embroidered Painting depicting Biblical scenes" was also added to the exhibition.
In total, the exhibit features 100 works from the State Hermitage Collection — paintings, graphics, sculptures, glyptics, examples of tapestry weaving, tooled leather, artistic silverware, carved bone — representing the extraordinary flowering of Flemish artistic culture.
The large-scale exhibition project "The Golden Age of Flemish Art" introduces visitors to the life of seventeenth-century Antwerp — the main center of Flemish art of that period. Peter Paul Rubens lived here — an artist whose name became synonymous with Flemish art. All major painters of the "Golden Age" were connected to Rubens and his workshop in Antwerp.
Flemish painting of the seventeenth century is represented at the exhibition in a variety of genres: landscapes, portraits, historical and genre scenes, as well as still lifes and animal scenes.
The exhibition "The Golden Age of Flemish Art. Cabinets of Curiosities of the Peter Paul Rubens Era" (0+) at the Hermitage-Ural Center runs until September 21.
Exhibition hours: Tue-Sun — 11:00 to 20:00; Mon — day off. Ticket prices: 400 rubles — full ticket, 200 rubles — discounted ticket (pensioners, students).
