Three candidates were presented for the consideration of the Degtyarsk Duma — Vadim Trofimov, head of the municipal property management department; Elena Glavatskikh, head of the city education department; and acting mayor Pavel Yekimovskiy. The latter was recommended to the local Duma by the candidate selection commission for the mayoral position.
The voting was secret. Ultimately, six deputies voted for Pavel Yekimovskiy and eight for Vadim Trofimov, an EAN source reported.
Vadim Trofimov is the son of former Degtyarsk mayor Valery Trofimov, who managed the city in the 2010s. Until recently, the mayor of Degtyarsk was Vadim Pilnikov.
In June, Kirovsky District Court of Yekaterinburg sentenced Pilnikov to ten years in a strict regime colony for bribery. A 9.6 million ruble Audi Q6, received from his deputy Andrey Ilin, was also confiscated.
