"Personal reception" is closing. The Roizman Foundation* in Yekaterinburg is working for the last time today at 11:10. The charitable Roizman Foundation* (its founder, Evgeny Roizman*, has been recognized as an "foreign agent"* by the Russian Ministry of Justice since 2022) ceases operations in Yekaterinburg from today. Friday, August 1st, is the organization's last working day, and they have been packing belongings for several days already.
"Evgeny Roizman* will conduct the last citizen reception on Friday. Nearly all collections have been closed," writes the Telegram channel "SVET Yekaterinburg." "All these months after April 14th, when the October District Court made the decision to liquidate the foundation, we continued working," said representatives of the Roizman Foundation* previously.
On July 31st, the day before, the foundation posted a notice on its Telegram channel inviting visitors for the reception, which everyone, except the foundation itself, is calling the last.
The Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation's claim to liquidate the Roizman Foundation* was satisfied by the October District Court of Yekaterinburg in April of this year. During a planned inspection by the authorities in October 2024, the organization was suspected of untargeted expenses amounting to 4.5 million rubles. The foundation itself denies these accusations and is attempting to dispute the results of the Ministry of Justice's check in order to have its outcome invalidated.
On August 5th, the court will review the foundation’s appeal against the decision to liquidate. If the appeal is not granted, the liquidation process will begin on the same day, reports the Telegram channel URALLIVE.
According to UralLIVE, the claims from the Ministry of Justice were prompted by the suspicion that the foundation allegedly received profit from collected funds. Additionally, the Telegram channel states that the foundation paid legal services to two Yekaterinburg residents accused of pedophilia.
Until 2022, Evgeny Roizman* hosted an author’s program called "Personal Reception" on the now-liquidated radio station Echo Moscow, where he shared with the entire country real-life cases and situations brought to him by people.
