Yekaterinburg is experiencing an invasion of squirrels
Today at 13:45, a real baby boom occurred in Yekaterinburg, but so far only among squirrels. Biologists say that the city has favorable conditions for the growth of their population.

The increasing number of squirrels in the arboretum on 8 March Street caught the attention of the EAN agency. The administration of the dendropark confirmed to the EAN that they are also observing such a mass presence of "rodents" for the first time.
As Nina Sadykova, director of the NATURAList Bio Diversity Promotion Center, explained to EAN, several pairs of adult squirrels live permanently in the dendropark, and when the new litter's offspring leave the nest, they run around in a group. "It looks impressive," she said, but unfortunately, it doesn't last long.
According to Nina Olegovna, the squirrel population in areas where they are fed by people exceeds even their natural habitats—the forests. Squirrels, just like their biological relatives, can feed from trash cans.
Experts advise feeding squirrels contactlessly, as the risk of them transmitting infections, although small, still exists.
