In Yekaterinburg, they are planning to demolish a structurally unsound Constructivist-style building.
In Yekaterinburg, authorities are preparing to demolish the building at 6 Krupskaya Street, erected in the constructivist style. City guide Dmitry Moskvin wrote on his Telegram channel "Native Yekaterinburger" that local residents recently received relocation notices.
"In Yekaterinburg they are trying to demolish constructivism. This time in Sortirovka, where, in principle, pre-war and avant-garde architecture can be counted on the fingers of one hand," Moskvin said.
The city administration's press service confirmed that the structure was declared unsafe. An interdepartmental commission made the decision on the imminent demolition of the building on July 14, 2025.
"In considering the matter, the conclusion of a specialized organization (prepared at the residents' request) and the house inspection report by the district commission were taken into account. The building was declared unsafe due to the emergency condition of the foundation, the load-bearing basement walls and the floor slabs. Engineering utilities are in normal condition, but when similar issues are considered by the interdepartmental commission the condition of the structural elements is taken into account, since they affect the reliability of the building or pose a risk of collapse," the mayor's office clarified.
The building itself was constructed in 1936. The last major renovation was carried out in 2017. Moskvin asserts that the building is one of the few representatives of pre-war architecture in Sortirovka, but information about this is absent from the regional department for the state protection of cultural heritage sites, EAN writes.
Earlier, Yekaterinburg authorities confirmed the possibility of demolishing Khrushchyovkas in the future.
