Yekaterinburg actors gave a million to a female con artist for the sake of art.
Students from Yekaterinburg handed over a million rubles for the chance to perform in a theater. The mentor of the young actors, Anna Kazakova, took the money and disappeared. The young people accuse the founder of the acting school of fraud.
The actors recorded a video appeal to the head of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin. Kazakova offered participation in events that did not exist, charging between 600 and 6,500 rubles as a deposit. She promised to return the money after the event. But not a single performance was held — they were all canceled because of the mentor.
"We didn't receive any money, although we were doing our jobs. Anna constantly changes passports and goes through bankruptcy proceedings to confuse the victims and the authorities," the students said.
More than a hundred people have been affected. Many even gave up their dreams of becoming actors after what happened. The total amount of damage is a million rubles.
"She threatened with fabricated criminal cases, said she would go unpunished, and that she had patrons in power," the portal E1.RU quotes one of the actors as saying.
Bastrykin ordered an investigation and instructed that its results be reported.
Earlier in Yekaterinburg a math teacher lost 10 million rubles after answering a phone call.
